-Pastels are created using the same pigments found in other art mediums such as oil paints.
-They are made by combining pure, dry color pigment with simple gum or methylcellulose-based binders which are then formed into round or square sticks.
– Once applied, the color does not dry lighter or darker because it does not need to cure.
– Over time a work in pastel does not crack, yellow, fade or blister as liquid media can.
– Works in pastel remain more brilliant and colorful and are more permanent than any other traditional art medium because the pigment is less adulterated.
